Hello Nordic Knitter!
Prepare to be awestruck, gobsmacked and inspired. In a subdued, Scandinavian restrained kind of way.
I have you down as a knitter, so I thought you might want a heads up about my new publication here on Substack, Nordic Knitter.
I am excited to share this with you, because I have been thinking about doing a publication that ties together my love of knitting with my profession as a personal colour analyst. And here it is, Nordic Knitter, a monthly email featuring rare knitting patterns, awesome yarn (with Season specific colour recommendations) and remarkable knitters.
I was wondering what category to pick for The Nordic Knitter.
There is no Substack category called Knitting For Sanity so this is what I chose:
1. Health and fitness
Because knitting is a mental health strategy. Try wearing a pulse monitor while knitting. I know, right? You’re so calm, there’s hardly any pulse at all. Except don’t check the pulse while unraveling and re-knitting that sleeve for the 17th time.
Also, there are 38 muscles involved when knitting. So. Fitness.
Actually I made that part up. I have no idea how many muscles are involved when knitting. But mental health is important.
2. Beauty and fashion
Knitting is the ultimate slow fashion.
First you pick the yarn. Or the Pattern. Then you choose. Then you knit. Then you wear it with pride. Usually, your hand knit items will be worn a lot, and for a long time.
Every month, you’ll get a new Nordic Knitter inspiration email
with a knitting pattern to be tempted by, carefully curated yarns to consider, and a fun knitter to follow.
